Dangerous Surrender: What Happens When You Say Yes to God
    By Kay Warren

A post from my friend Amy inspired me to change the look of my xanga page and begin a fresh start. Xanga has taken the back burner and facebook has become my primary form of communication with most of my friends from college, travels, etc. It just seems so much easier to navigate and keep in touch.

So here's an update on what has been going on in my life:

It's been nearly a year since I've graduated from College. Time has flown. I spent 2 months last summer in Cambodia in hopes of a clearer calling as to where the Lord would have me serve overseas. I had a tremendous time there, and was able to be involved in a variety of ministries, but after much prayer, I believe God is leading me back to Africa.

Fast forward--> I've been accepted as a missionary apprentice with the Christian & Missionary Alliance - A lifelong denomination that I have desired to play my part in since I was young. In January, I accepted a position to go to Burkina Faso, West Africa. This will be a 2 year commitment working under the supervision of seasoned missionaries and gaining experience with the people and in the language, and culture. The logistics aren't all together, but my primary responsibility will be teaching English as a second language. Other ministries include: working in a boys & girls home, medical work, CAMA Services, teachers training in VBS and Bible classes, and working at the "Dorcas House." This last ministry is just getting started for women at risk or who have already made poor decisions and want to turn their lives around. They will learn to read and write, as well as learn handy craft skills to earn a living. There will also be opporunities with Bible studies, health education, and mentoring. So.....I am really excited about these possibilites!

I've been working for my brother at his computer business since I returned home last August. It's not a job that I absolutly love, but it helps him out and I can make some money at the same time. Plus my hours are flexible, though I ususally work 8:30-5 M-F. I  need to raise at very large amount of money for my apprenticeship, so every little bit helps. On top of that, I'm also taking a 9 week class at a local college to better operate the sales program on the computer here at work.

I've also been involved in many different ministries at my home church with the youth, music team, the elderly, Alliance women, and the dinner and missions committes. Needless to say, life is busy. But I like it that way. I'm also learning to take time for the things that really matter. Spending time with my family, rebuilding old friendships, and starting new relationships have been key as of lately. So there's my update. I'm really going to try harder to update on a more regular basis. Any questions, leave a comment, facebook me, or give me a call!

  • So I just realized that it's been like forever since I last updated. There hasn't been too much that has happened since may though! HAHA. I spent nearly 2 months this summer in Cambodia and had an amazing experience there. Now I must decide where I want to go longterm overseas, whether it will be back to Cambodia, or somewhere else. Please keep me in your prayers as this is a huge decision that will effect the rest of my life. Lord willing, I am still planning on going with the C&MA next summer for my apprenticeship, which will be 2 years overseas. I'm just not sure where yet. As of now, I am working full time at my brother's business, and keeping busy! One thing's for sure- It's nice to be home again with my family and especially my little sister!

  • Lyrics from a post by my friend Ben...

Crucify him, crucify him, crucify him, crucify him…
No, no, no, no! I say no! No… he’s innocent! What are you doing? Can’t you see that he’s innocent! …no… he’s… he’s innocent…

    What if…
What if you were transported in time to the place and the spot where Christ had to die? What if you beheld with your own two eyes where his blood was spilled, where he gave his life when he came up the hill and he was barely alive? Could you tell who he was if he walked on by? Could you see what they’ve done to his back and his side? Would you see all his love? Would you recognize when they pierced his skull with the thorns and they tried to pull out his out his hair out his beard and then decide to pierce his bare back thirty nine times? You get the real facts, they’re right there beside you. What if you saw him die, got a real view? Would you keep living your life the way that you do or would you run and hide, just continue to live your life blind? It’s up to you, dude.

Will you ever know, will you ever see what he’s done for you, what he’s done for me? Can you ever know? Can you ever see? What will it take for you to believe?

What if today was the very day he died? And what if he was standing right there by your side as the people cheered and they screamed and they cried, but this time around see he wasn’t crucified? What if he was led from a jail this time to be executed in the middle of the night, but you could view if you tuning in worldwide on the internet, on the TV was televised? What if you were standing right there? They brought him on down to the electric chair? You had to flip the switch now, would you be aware? Would you understand his death? Would you even care? Would you change how you live? Would you shed a tear? Would you see what he did? Would you be prepared to give your life to him right now and right there? Can you see what he did? It’s quite clear.

Will you ever know, will you ever see what he’s done for you, what he’s done for me? Can you ever know? Can you ever see? What will it take for you to believe?

Beheld the very nails used to hold him on the cross then what would you do? You saw him beat up, beat down, then abused. Would you see how much it cost for him now for you? But what would it take for him to prove that he took the blame for everything that we do? It’s still just the same, man, there ain’t nothing new. They still hate to change and come now to you. But what if you could gaze and just see the last five minutes before he would leave this earth and worse what if you saw him breath his last breathe when death took his life? You see his head hang down, he starts to heave ‘cause his death came slow, it’s plain to see that it’s more painful than we could imagine it to be. Man, you’ve seen in plain view – do you believe?

Will you ever know, will you ever see what he’s done for you, what he’s done for me? Can you ever know? Can you ever see? What will it take for you to believe?
